Many trees in the Boise area experience the impacts of insects that bore into the surface. Left untreated, these insects may inflict significant damage to your trees. It is an inherent risk when living in ”the city of trees”. Most boring insects are a variety of moths and beetles. They are very destructive and can result and structural weakness and potentially death of the affected tree. It is best if you can have this condition diagnosed and treated early. But that is not always possible, depending on the number of trees you have on your property.

Wood boring insects are often seen as pests because of the amount of damage they can create a short period of time. These insects are typically attracted to trees that are weakened already, but that is not always the case. You can tell if your tree has been affected if you see signs such as holes in the tree, patches of resin, or gummy substances exuding from the tree. You may also see sawdust or waste products around the base of the tree.

If you have waited too long and your tree is now dead or dying, you may need to resort to having that tree removed. Prolonged exposure to boring insects will make a tree unsafe for you and your family.
